Abstract. Language learning has expanded beyond formal education; yet, students continue to face the challenge of how to effectively direct their language learning. Self-regulated learning (SRL) has emerged as an imperative issue in the education domain, and it is widely recognised as one of the most crucial skills for lifelong learning to meet the challenges of the 21st century. We all experienced and witnessed several big changes in learning and teaching during COVID-19. The increasing ownership of mobile devices has created a new evolution in language learning. However, there is little research on how mobile technology specifically supports primary students to self-regulate their English vocabulary learning process. In this talk, Miss YANG Yin will share a line of research that she has engaged during the past three years. This includes a systematic review of technology-enhanced self-regulated language learning and a case study of understanding primary students’ self-regulated vocabulary learning behaviours via learning analytics and their associated learning outcomes. The findings of this study may provide researchers with theoretical and practical insights into the dynamic SRVL behavioural learning patterns in a mobile learning environment. The findings will also shed light on future research on customised recommendations to learners with different SRVL characteristics. The talk will conclude with a brief description of her future research agenda for advancing this strand of exploration.
