| 国内对海归人才的引进工作一直很重视，中央政府和地方政府为鼓励和吸引海归人才回国工作，配套出台了不少优惠政策。本文基于 2008~2021年国内上市公司的数据，考察 CEO的海外背景对企业出口的实际影响。研究发现：聘用具有海外背景的CEO能够显著促进企业出口，并且在采用 PSM和工具变量法缓解内生性问题后，结论依然稳健；相比于海外教育经历，CEO的海外工作经历对企业出口的正向影响更显著；相比于女性CEO，男性 CEO的海外背景对企业出口的影响更明显；在沿海地区、法律环境较好或具有大量海外直接投资的地区，CEO的海外背景对企业出口的积极影响会更显著。本文研究为企业推动出口提供了有效途径，也为政府制定海归政策提供了理论支持。 |

| Abstract: |
| China has always attached great importance to the introduction of returnees. In order to encourage and attract returnees to work back home, the central and regional governments have issued various preferential policies. Therefore, based on the data of Chinese listed companies from 2008 to 2021, we study the impact of CEOs with foreign experience on firms’export. The results show that hiring CEOs with foreign experience significantly enhances firms’export performance. Moreover, the results are robust to the endogenous CEO selection using instrument variable method and propensity score matching method. We also find that the positive relation between CEOs’foreign experience and firms’export performance is more pronounced when CEOs have long-term foreign work experience. Furthermore, the impact of foreign experience on firms’export performance varies with CEOs’gender. Also, this type of benefit for appointing CEOs with foreign experience is only significant when firms located in coastal areas, and when firms are in areas featuring a better legal environment or receiving intensive foreign direct investment. Hence, this study offers policy implication by suggesting hiring a CEO with foreign experience is an efficient way to improve firms’export performance. |
