  1. pplication Requirement

  1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a valid foreign passport, under the age of 25 and in good physical and mental health, who are equivalent to a Chinese high school diploma or above.

  2. Applicants who immigrate from the Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and have acquired foreign nationality or whose parents are both Chinese citizens and have settled abroad, and who have foreign nationality at birth, must meet the requirements of Document No. 12 [2020] of the Ministry of Education.

  3. Applicants should be equipped with excellent academic performance, meeting the requirements of the application school and major as well.

  4. Applicants under the age of 18 shall provide guardian guarantee.If the applicant's parents are not in China, the guardian shall be a foreigner or a Chinese who is residing in China entrusted by the parents.


*According to different types of applications, the application conditions are supplemented by categories, please pay attention to the same.


1. Chinese Government Scholarships

(1) The application has been approved by the institution accepting the application (dispatching departments of foreign students or embassies /consulates abroad).

(2) Applicantshave not received any scholarship from the Chinese government or any other organization.

2. Shanghai Government Scholarships

(1) Applicants should achieve excellent academic record, and have passed HSK4 or above for programs taught in Chinese and reached the language level required by the host institution for the applied program.

(2) Applicantshave not received any scholarship from the Chinese government or any other organization.

3. Self-financing

Applicants should achieve excellent academic record, and have passed HSK4 or above for programs taught in Chinese and reached the language level required by the host institution for the applied program.

  1. SUIBE International Students Application Form

Please log into the online application system at //www.whaleread.com/sis/ to fill in the application form;

  1. High School Graduation Certificate

A scanned copy of the original certificate, if not in Chinese or English, a notarized and translated version in Chinese or English is required. Graduating students should provide a certificate of impending graduation. The expected time to obtain the degree certificate should be earlier than August 31, 2021 and the graduation certificate must be submitted when registering;

  1. Complete High School Transcript

Must be in Chinese or English, and notarized Chinese or English translations are required for other languages;

  1. Language Proficiency Certificate

For Chinese-taught programs: copy of the effective (within 2yrs) HSK certificate. Required HSK levels for each major should be referred to bachelor major list;

For English taught program: IELTS (6.0 or above) / TOFEL (80 or above)/Cambridge English (B2 or above) certificate;

  1. Letter of Self-recommendation

(500-800 words, applicants of Chinese-taught programs should be written in Chinese);

(6) Photocopy of Passport (including personal information page and Chinese visa pages);

(7) Guardian's Letter of Guarantee is required for applicants under 18 years old.

*Supplement of scholarship application materials:

  1. Effective (within 6 months) Health Certificate

Physical examination report must cover all of the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form, and provide the detailed blood test report. Incomplete forms or forms without the applicants' photograph, a sealed photograph of the applicant, the official stamp of the hospital, or signature of physician are considered as invalid;

  1. Non-criminal Certificate(notarized photocopy in English or Chinese).

1. Online Application (Application Commencement Time: March 1,2021 )

Log into SUIBE International Student Online Application Website: //www.whaleread.com/sis/. Please register and submit the online application.

* Scholarship applicants should also register and submit the application form on scholarship websites.

2. Participate in the interview

After receiving the interview notice, please attend the interview on time. The specific interview time is subject to the email notification. Please ensure that the email address is correct.

3. Track your application status online

Pay attention to your email to check your application status.

  1. Admission and university enrollment

The result of your application will be announced through your application account. Admitted students must register on the mentioned date on the admission letter and bring the original graduation certificate to be checked. Your enrollment will be canceled without providing the relevant certificates.

2. Admission criteria

A merit-based admission system is adopted to select admittees from those applicants whose basic application materials and interview performance are qualified.

3. Admission rules

(1) Meeting the basic application requirements;

(2) Selecting admittees based on their Chinese or English proficiency (relevant score certificates are required);

(3) Arranging for international students to sit for entrance examination or undergo assessment according to the relevant regulations of China;

(4) Reviewing the materials of admitted students after they are enrolled. Those who fail to pass the review will be disqualified according to the prescribed procedure.

After the confirmation of on-campus accommodation, the accommodation fee for one academic year will be paid together with the tuition.

(2) Bank card (after enrollment)

After registration, the admitted students will receive a bank card that the SUIBE applies for them. You should deposit an appropriate amount of money into the account as your tuition and accommodation fees, which will be deducted by the SUIBE’s financial department within the specified time.
